
Huang Advances to Quarterfinals at ITA Regionals

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH - University of Colorado tennis freshman Linda Huang advanced to the quarterfinals in the top-half of the singles draw at the ITA Regionals here Friday.
WHAT HAPPENED: SINGLES
Freshman Linda Huang is stepping up with a solid showing so far in Salt Lake City. Huang has knocked off four opponents to advance to the semifinals. She started off with a bye in the round of 64 but on Thursday defeated Mboko of Denver in the round of 32 in a tough set of 6-2, 6-3. The freshman went on to defeat Kenia of UNLV in two quick sets 6-0, 6-0 to advance to the quarterfinals.
Here Friday Huang added one more victory as she battled SUU's Nassik in three sets. Huang fell 4-6 in the first set but bounced back to outlast Nassic going 6-3, 6-1 in the last two sets to take the match victory.
Huang will face Herrero of Nevada who took down Cusack of BYU in a three set match of 6-2, 2-6, 6-2. Play starts at 9 a.m. MT at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center.
