Tompkins Named Pac-12 Goalkeeper Of The Week
October 24, 2017 | Soccer
SAN FRANCISCO - Colorado sophomore Jalen Tompkins was named Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week on Tuesday. It is her third career weekly award from the conference and first this season. She is also the second Buffs player to earn a player of the week award this season, joining Joss Orejel, who was Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 29.
Tompkins was key in two shutouts by the Buffs last week. She made four saves in 45 minutes in a 3-0 win over Arizona State on Thursday. She then made a season-high 11 saves in a scoreless draw with Arizona on Sunday. In that match, she stopped a breakaway in the 54th minute and then saved a free kick from 18 yards out just two minutes later. In the first overtime period, she made a spectacular diving save to keep the match alive. Against Arizona, nine of her 11 saves came after halftime. For the week, she made 15 saves in 155 minutes.
CU hits the road this week to play at Oregon State on Thursday and at Oregon on Sunday.
