Abu Named UCHealth CU Athlete Of The Week

BOULDER - This week's UCHealth CU Athlete of the week goes to Naghede Abu from the volleyball team.
Abu, a junior middle blocker, was named the NCAA Volleyball Tournament Waco Sub-Regional Most Outstanding Player. She averaged 2.67 kills per set while hitting .387 and posting 1.67 blocks per set as the Buffs swept both James Madison and No. 18 Baylor to advance to their first Sweet 16 in 20 years.
In the match against James Madison on Dec. 1, Abu recorded nine kills and just one error on 13 attacks. She also added two blocks, one solo and one assist. The following night (Dec. 2) against the No. 12 seeded and home team Bears, she tallied seven kills and led the Buffs with eight blocks.

For the women's basketball team, Janea Bunn was the star of the show as she lead her Buffs to a big win over North Dakota State. Bunn had her first career double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds in CU's 108-59 win over North Dakota State on Wednesday. She shot 9-of-12 from the floor and had four blocks on two steals. Bunn and the Buffaloes are off to a hot start this season.
