The 6-foot-7 transfer from Sierra College will provide immediate post help
BOULDER – Colorado women's basketball coach JR Payne announced the signing of Jaimie Curtis to a National Letter of Intent on Thursday morning. Curtis joins the Buffs as a transfer from Sierra College and is a native of Rocklin, California. She is a 6-foot-7 post player and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
"We are thrilled to have Jaimie joining our Buff family," Payne said. "Jaimie adds a new dimension to our team in that she has a rare combination of size and mobility. We are excited to add Jaimie's length, experience and tenacity to our frontcourt next season. Jaimie is a very good student who is excited to make an impact on the court, in the classroom and in the Boulder community."
Curtis led Sierra College, one of the top two-year programs in the state of California, to Big 8 Conference championships as a freshman and sophomore. In 29 games in 2016-17, she averaged 6.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocked shots as a reserve for the Wolverines. She also shot 57 percent from the floor as the team finished 26-4 overall and ranked No. 3 in the state.
Curtis scored in double figures six times as a sophomore, including a season-high 19 points in a 106-83 win at American River. She also had 18 points in a 68-56 win at Santa Rosa on Jan. 24. She reached double figures in rebounds two times as well, with a season-high 12 boards in a one-point win at Ventura in December. She made a difference on the defensive end, recording at least one blocked shot in all but two games, and had a season-best five blocks against Fresno.
At Rocklin High School, she was her team's defensive player of the year and named second-team all-conference after leading her team to a 20-9 record as a senior.
Colorado is coming off a 17-16 record and a postseason appearance, reaching the third round of the WNIT in Payne's first season with the Buffs.
