Get To Know: Lauren Dorrell

BOULDER – Our next Buff in the 'Get To Know' series is Lauren Dorrell, an outside hitter from Brentwood, Tenn. She will be a redshirt freshman in the fall.
1. What is your favorite volleyball memory and why?
My favorite volleyball memory would have to be winning state my senior year of high school. We were such an underrated team going into the state tournament, but we ended up persevering and proved people wrong. It will always be one of my favorite memories.
2. Who is someone you look up to the most and why?
There are so many influential people in my life, it is hard to pick one, but if I had to narrow it down, I would have to say my dad. He is one of the most God-fearing, humble, selfless, and self-motivated men I will ever have the pleasure of meeting, let alone knowing. He has seen the worst of the worst yet still manages to overcome any obstacle with his faith. I aspire to be like him in all ways.
3. Name a place you've always wanted to go to but never have been.
I would love to go and tour around Europe.
4. Why did you choose to become a Colorado Buffalo?
It just seemed like the perfect fit. From the campus to the conference, there is no other school like CU. It also helped that I was born here and have close friends and family nearby.
5. What is your favorite TV show?
The Office or Arrested Development… hands down.
6. Where do you see yourself in five years from now?
With a degree doing what I love whether that's on or off the court.
7. If you had to be stranded on a deserted island with one person who would you want that one person to be?
Anyone that has survival skills hahaha.
8. Do you have any hidden talents?
Not really, haha. I like to think I can sing.
9. Did you play in any other sports growing up or in high school?
I played about everything else before playing volleyball freshman year of high school. I was a competitive cheerleader until my parents made me quit.
10. How many pairs of shoes do you currently own?
Yikes... honestly probably 30-40 or more.
11. Who is your best friend and how did you meet?
My best friend's name is Hannah, and I was born into the friendship lol. Kidding... but our families have been close family friends since before I was born
12. What is your favorite part about being at the University of Colorado?
The weather, the views, the people, the volleyball, and the food.
13. Name one celebrity you would like to meet and why?
Beyonce.
