September 12, 2017 | General, Men's Golf, Soccer

BOULDER - Yannik Paul from men's golf and Tatum Barton from soccer were named the UCHealth CU Athletes of the Week for the Sept. 4-10, 2017.

On the golf course, senior Paul opened up his fourth year campaign by leading the team to a third place finish in the Gene Miranda-Air Force Falcon Invitational. He shot an 8-under 208 performance on Air Force's 7,511-yard, par-72 Eisenhower Blue Golf Course; he tied for third individually in the process. The senior shot a 67, 71, and 70 in his three individual rounds. It was Yannik's 14th tournament where he finished under par, and with all three rounds under par, he upped his total to 42 career subpar rounds. He was second in par-3 scoring (minus-2) and fourth in par-4 scoring (4-under) for the weekend, as he had 13 birdies and 36 pars. He shot 11 straight to close the meet. The senior Buff ended with only five bogeys.

Over at Prentup Field, it was Barton, a sophomore transfer, who led the Buffaloes to victory. Doing so, she scored the first two goals of her career on Monday (Sept. 4) to lift CU to a 3-0 win over Brigham Young University. Barton also had an assist in the match for a total of five points, becoming just the 10th player in CU history to record at least five points in a match. The Freshman also had four shot attempts in a 2-0 win at UTSA on Sunday. While the young Buff was getting the job done at Prentup, she has also helped the Buffaloes to an outstanding 5-1-2 season.

In the loss to No. 3 Penn State, CU's first of the season, she recorded one block solo and three block assists to average 1.33 per set. Offensively, she had five kills and hit .300. In the win against Illinois, Abu posted six block assists in the five sets. She also had 15 kills and just two errors on 21 attacks for a .619 hitting efficiency. Abu was a major player in CU's fifth set 17-15 win over the Illini, hammering five kills on as many attacks.
