King And Beck Named UCHealth CU Athletes Of The Week

BOULDER - George King and Brigitte Beck have been named this week's UCHealth CU Athletes of the week after their performances in men's basketball and women's tennis.
King, a senior, averaged 15.0 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting 60 percent from the field last week in road losses to No. 11/12 Arizona and No. 21/20 Arizona State. Against Arizona, King scored 22 points hitting 9 of 12 from the field including 4 of 5 from 3-point range. He reached 20 points for the fifth time this season and 15th time in his career. His nine field goals made tied a career high. King became the 21st player in team history to reach 600 rebounds during the game. He had eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds in the loss at Arizona State.
Beck, a junior, was particularly dominant this past weekend in being a part of the Colorado Buffaloes', 7-0, win over the Northern Colorado Bears as the team won each of its match-ups in straight sets. Beck contributed with a win in doubles play with partner Chloe Hule by taking down UNC's Sarina Chhabra and Carrigan Blanchard, 6-1. In singles play, Beck defeated Carrigan Blanchard of UNC, 6-0, 6-3. Beck is undefeated so far this season, 2-0 in both singles and doubles play.
Also nominated for this week's honors: Kennedy Leonard (Women's Basketball), Rajon O'Quinn (Women's Track and Field), Jon Maas (Men's Track and Field)
Leonard averaged 17.5 points and 8.0 assists against a pair of top-20 opponents in Boulder this weekend. She had 16 points and nine assists, while hitting 3-of-6 from 3-point range in a loss to No. 7/9 Oregon on Friday. She had 19 points and seven assists in a loss to No. 17/17 Oregon State on Sunday.
O'Quinn put together another solid weekend advancing the finals in both the 60 and 200 meters at the Air Force Invitational. In the Semi's, O'Quinn clocked a 7.53 to finish third and advance. In the finals, she crossed the finish line fourth with a time of 7.56. Her prelim time from Friday of 7.53 is her fastest 60 meter time this season. In the 200 meters, O'Quinn clocked a strong time of 24.32 in the finals to finish fourth. O'Quinn has the top times for the Buffs in the 60, 200, 400 and the top mark in the high jump.
Maas is settling into his freshman season strong with a solid weekend at the Air Force Invitational. Maas clocked a 6.98 prelim 60 meters time that advanced him to the semifinals, this is also the fastest time for a Buff this 2018 indoor season. In the semifinal heat, Mass finished sixth (6.98) but unfortunately did not advance to the finals heat due to an automatic qualifier from another heat. Maas also saw success in the 200 meters where he finished third with a solid time of 21.79 only .01 off his season PR time of 21.78 from the prelims. Maas owns the top times for the Buffs in the 60 and 200 meters.
