Weather:

  • It's a cloudy night in the City of Angels as temperatures are expected to be in the mid-60's. Winds are coming from the south at six miles per hour.

Pregame:
  • A big game tonight for the No.19 5-0 Buffaloes as they face the 3-2 USC Trojans in a crucial Pac-12 South Division matchup. The winner of tonight's game will take the lead in the division.

First Quarter:
  • Colorado wins the toss and elects to defer to the second half. USC will receive. Kick goes back into the end zone for a touchback.
  • On the first play of the night, Drew Lewis reaches high and claims his first interception of the season. First down Buffs at the USC 40.
  • The Buffs are unable to capitalize on the interception and go three-and-out to start the night. Steven Montez was sacked for a loss of 10 on 3rd and 12. Davis Price punts to the USC 5.
  • Colorado replies defensively as they force the Trojans to go three-and-out as well. Chris Miller and Ronnie Blackmon combine for a big tackle to keep USC from moving the chains. Buffs start at their 40.
  • Colorado's offense is off to a sluggish start. It's back to back three-and-outs for the Buffs. Montez tried to find Laviska Shenault Jr. on third down but his throw was a bit too high. Price punts to the USC 19.
  • Davion Taylor hurries USC quarterback JT Daniels on 3rd and 6 and forces an incompletion to force the Trojans to punt. Colorado stops a USC drive that got into Buffalo territory. Blackmon fair catches the punt at the CU 15. 7:08 left.
  • The Buffs move the chains for the first time tonight on the previous drive but weren't able to get into USC territory. Price punts to the USC 17.
  • Evan Worthington comes up with the second interception for Colorado's defense this quarter on 2nd and short. Colorado starts up again at its own 33.
  • Once again, The Buffaloes can't take advantage of a turnover as they go three-and-out for the third time tonight. USC's defense is swarming the Buffaloes on short passes. Price's punt ends up at the USC 30.
  • END OF THE FIRST QUARTER

Second Quarter:
  • Another nice stop for the Buffaloes as they get a slice of fortune from a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the Trojans. The Trojans got into Colorado territory but were denied in moving the chains. Blackmon returns the punt 27 yards to the Colorado 42 to set up nice field position. 12:57 left.
  • TOUCHDOWN Colorado. On 3rd and 1, Shenault out of the wildcat formation bursts into the open field, gets a crucial block from Brady Russell and coasts into the end zone from 49 yards out. Colorado strikes first at the Coliseum. 7-0 CU, 11:58 left. Kick is returned by USC to its 31.
  • TOUCHDOWN USC. Daniels finds Vaughns on a nicely thrown lob from 27 yards out and the Trojans level things up. Daniels made some crucial completions on that drive connecting with Pittman for 19 yards on a 3rd and 15 plus a 28-yard connection to Vaughns prior to the touchdown throws. Concludes a six-play, 69-yard drive that lasted 1:40. Tied at 7, 10:11 left. Kick goes into the end zone for a touchback.
  • Colorado is unable to answer USC's touchdown as they go three-and-out on their next drive. Asides from Shenault's touchdown run, the Buffs haven't been able to come up with any other big plays. Price punts to the USC 29. 8:15 left.
  • Mustafa Johnson now with 5.5 sacks on the year as he takes down Daniels on 3rd and long to force USC to punt. The Buffs force the second three-and-out for the Trojans tonight. USC punts it to the CU 29. 5:59 left.
  • Colorado goes three-and-out for the fifth time this game. After Montez was sacked for a loss of nine on 1st down, Shenault tried to give the drive life with a 13-yard reception on 2nd down. The Buffs were unable to convert on third down and Price punts it to the USC 38. 4:14 left.
  • TOUCHDOWN USC. On the second play of the drive, Daniels throws a perfect ball into the hands of Pittman for a 65-yard scored to give USC the lead. 14-7 USC, 3:33 left. Kick goes through the end zone for a touchback.
  • That's now three straight three-and-outs for the Buffaloes as they're unable to gain any yardage on the brief possession. Punt by Price is returned to the USC 45. 1:57 left.
  • TOUCHDOWN USC. Pittman once again is becoming a nightmare for the Colorado secondary, as Daniels connects with him from nine yards out for the score. Pittman also made a great 39-yard reception on the drive to set up a goal-to-go scenario. Caps off a four play, 55-yard drive lasting 47 seconds. Kick is returned by K.D. Nixon to the CU 23. 21-7 USC, 1:03 left.
  • END OF HALF

Third Quarter:
  • The Buffaloes will begin the second half with the ball. Kick goes through the end zone for a touchback.
  • Colorado's first drive of the second half results in a punt. Montez made a 19-yard completion to Shenault on 3rd and 7 at the CU 28 to keep the drive alive. Montez would later rush for a first down on 3rd and 11 into Trojan territory, but it got called back on a holding penalty. Price's punt is downed at the USC 9. 11:59 left.
  • A lengthy, ground-dominated USC drive is halted by the Buffs near midfield. The Trojans delivered 50 yards on the ground that drive, but Dante Wigley made a key tackle on Vaughns to prevent USC from moving the chains on 3rd down. USC punt goes into the end zone for a touchback. 6:51 left.
  • TOUCHDOWN USC. Ajene Harris makes the most of a deflection from Shenault on 3rd and long and converts a pick six from six yards out. 28-7 USC. 5:16 left. Kick goes out of bounds and the Buffs will start at their 35.
  • The Buffs were able to drive 30 yards down to the USC 35, but were unable to convert on 4th and 3. Shenault earlier in the drive made a 24-yard reception and Tony Brown made a 15-yard completion to get into USC territory. USC takes over at its own 36. 2:22 left.
  • Colorado's defense forces a three-and-out, but dodged a bullet as Daniels looked for Velus Jones downfield but didn't come up with the catch. Blackmon returns the USC punt to the CU 28. 57 seconds left.
  • END OF THE THIRD QUARTER.

Fourth Quarter:
  • Colorado starts the fourth quarter going three-and-out. It's the seventh three-and-out for the Buffaloes tonight, they're struggling to find offensive production tonight as they've been limited to 158 total yards of offense. Price's punt is downed at the USC 29. 14:27 left.
  • The Trojans go three-and-out for the second straight time, but on third down, Amon-Ra St. Brown couldn't quite handle a nicely thrown deep ball by Daniels to get into the red zone. Another break for the Buffs. USC punts to the CU 35. 13:39 left.
  • TOUCHDOWN Colorado. A long drive lasting six minutes, 57 seconds is capped off by Kyle Evans rushing for a two-yard score. A couple long completions to Brown and Nixon got the Buffaloes into USC territory. A 15-yard rush by Montez on 4th and 14 kept the Buffs alive on the drive and a pass interference call on a later fourth down against the Trojans gave Colorado a chance to score. Drive took 16 plays on 65 yards. It's now a two-score game. 28-14 USC. 6:46 left. Colorado attempts an onside kick and it's recovered by the Trojans at the CU 48.
  • Michael Brown's 38-yard field goal attempt from the right hash mark is good. Caps off a seven play, 28-yard drive lasting 1:41 to extend USC's lead. 31-14 USC. 5:05 left. Kick goes through the end zone for a touchback.
  • TOUCHDOWN Colorado. Montez scans the field, finds a gap to run and gets the ball over the pylon for the score. Two-point conversion attempt is no good. Jaylon Jackson got involved on that drive with two catches for 19 yards. A defensive pass interference call kept the drive alive. Concludes a 10 play, 75-yard drive lasting 1:42. 31-20 USC. 3:19 left. Colorado recovers the onside kick and starts at its own 48.
  • After the Buffs recovered the onside kick, they weren't able to capitalize on it as the Buffaloes go four-and-out. USC ball at the CU 45 with 2:29 left. No timeouts available for both teams.
  • USC is in victory formation and Colorado suffers its first defeat of the season.
  • END OF GAME
