#NFLBuffs: Lindsay Stars For Broncos In First NFL Start

October 31, 2018 | Football

Nine former University of Colorado players saw action in Week 8 of the NFL season.

Weekly Spotlight

Phillip Lindsay made his first career start at running back as the Broncos fell 30-23 in Kansas City. Lindsay put together another huge game, surpassing 100 yards from scrimmage for the first time since facing the Raiders in Week 2. He gained 95 yards on a career high 18 carries, while catching all three of his targets for 17 yards. After his Week 8 performance, Lindsay was nominated for NFL Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this season.

The undrafted rookie is quietly establishing himself as one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in the NFL. He currently ranks sixth in the NFL and first among rookies in rushing (531), while his 5.7 yards per carry are more than any of the five players ahead of him in total yards.

Second year free safety Tedric Thompson is quickly settling into his new role as the starter in Seattle. He was on the field for 58 of the Seahawks' 59 defensive snaps, helping limit the Lions offense to just 14 points. He forced a fumble on the Lions' first kickoff return of the day, giving the Seahawks possession at 34-yard line and setting up a touchdown three plays later. On the day, Thompson recorded six tackles (four solo), a pass deflection and a forced fumble.

Packers' left tackle David Bakhtiari was dominant again in Sunday's 29-27 loss to the Rams. In 34-pass blocking snaps, Bakhtiari didn't allow a pressure as quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw for 286 yards. His performance landed him on the Pro Football Focus Sunday Standouts list for Week 8. Teammate Mason Crosby was perfect once again on Sunday, converting 2-of-2 field goal tries and 4-of-4 PATs. His 53-yard field goal in the third was his longest since 2016.

Other Notable Performances

Wide receiver Paul Richardson had two receptions for 34 yards as well as a 7-yard run in Redskins' 20-13 win over the Giants. Left tackle Nate Solder played all 70 offensive snaps for the Giants in the game.

Josh Tupou recorded one tackle in the Bengals' 37-34 win over Tampa Bay.

Ahkello Witherspoon recorded one tackle in the 49ers' 18-15 loss to the Cardinals.

Jimmy Smith recorded six tackles (three solo) and a pass deflection in the Ravens' 36-21 loss to Carolina.
