Jones Named USATF Athlete of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS — The awards continue to roll in for University of Colorado senior Dani Jones as she was named the USATF Athlete of the Week on Wednesday.
Jones won the NCAA individual cross country crown on November 17 and helped the CU women's team to the NCAA team title for the first time in 14 years. The award comes on the heels of being named the USTFCCCA Female Athlete of the Year on Tuesday. She was also named an All-American for the third consecutive year following the race.
Jones out kicked Weini Kelati (New Mexico) down the final stretch to win the title. Jones crossed the finish in 19:42.8, while Kelati recorded a time of 19:45.3.
As a team, CU defeated New Mexico 65-103, posting the third lowest score since the race changed from 5K to 6K in 2001. CU put all five scorers in the top 25, including three in the top 15.
