November 03, 2018 | Women's Golf

PINEHURST, N.C. — After eight rounds at the LPGA Q-Series in Pinehurst, N.C., University of Colorado junior Robyn Choi finished tied for 45th to qualify for LPGA status in 2019.

"I'm so happy and proud of Robyn! The finish she had was simply incredible," Colorado Head Coach Anne Kelly said. "Not only making birdies on two of her last three holes yesterday, but her incredible come back the last few days to move her from 100th place to 45th and earning her LPGA status.

"As happy as I am for Robyn, I'm sad for our program to lose not only a great player, but more importantly a great person. But I that's part of the process to help student-athletes achieve their dreams and it will be so exciting for Robyn to give her dream a shot!"

Choi finished the tournament with a 10-over 586. The first two rounds saw her shoot a pair of 7-over 79's, but in the third round, she recorded a 5-under 67. She finished the first week of competition with a 4-over 76 for a combined scorecard of 301 (13-over).

The second half of the tournament was much better for Choi. She recorded a 2-over 74 in the fifth round and a 3-under 69 in the sixth round. She earned her third round in the 60's with 4-under 68 in the seventh round and capped off the tournament with a 2-over 74. She shot a 3-over 285 in the final 72 holes.

Over the course of the eight rounds (144 holes), she recorded 22 birdies, 93 pars, 26 bogeys and three doubles.
