Three Buffs Earn All-Conference Honors

Kornieck, Baucom and Tompkins earn conference recognition

SAN FRANCISCO—The Pac-12 Conference honored three players from the Colorado soccer team, announcing its postseason All-Conference awards on Wednesday. Junior Taylor Kornieck was Colorado's lone first-team honoree, while Jorian Baucom was selected to the second team and Jalen Tompkins to the third.

Kornieck, a Henderson, Nev., native, finished second on the team with a career-best 28 points, despite missing four matches to injury. She scored nine goals in her 16 starts, including two multi-goal games. She ranks 10th in the NCAA with a CU record 10 assists, averaging .63 assists per game (7th NCAA). She was also among the top offensive players in the nation this season, totaling a school record 1.75 points per game (13th NCAA).

Kornieck, a who also earned first-team honors in 2016, catapulted up the all-time lists at Colorado this season. She leads the Buffs with 1.20 points per game. She moved into second now averaging .45 goals per game and is fourth in points (72), fourth in goals (27) and third in assists (18). Kornieck was a second-team honoree in 2017. 

Baucom, a senior from Scottsdale, Ariz., ranks second in the Pac-12 with a team-best 12 goals this season. She led the team with 30 points (24th NCAA), recording the second-best point total in program history. Baucom became just the third player in program history to record 12 or more goals in a season, bringing her career total to 45. She started all 20 games this season after sitting out last season. The transfer from LSU totaled three multi-goal games and ranks fourth in the Pac-12 with .60 goals per game. She was also third on the team with six assists. 

Baucom, as a sophomore at LSU, was named first-team All-SEC and NSCAA first-team All-South Region. The Louisiana Sports Writers Association also selected her as their Louisiana Collegiate Player of the Year.  

Tompkins, a junior from Phoenix, Ariz., provided security for the Buffs throughout the season in net. She registered 12 wins on the season, including a solo shutout against California. Tompkins had a hand in seven of CU's eight shutouts this season. She started 18 of the 19 games she appeared in this season. Tompkins made 12 saves in CU's draw at Arizona State, tying her career-high. Tompkins leads the Pac-12 with a .851 save percentage (25th NCAA) and is third in the conference with 4.53 saves per game. 

Tompkins, also a third-team selection in 2017, moved up the all-time wins list this season for the Buffaloes. She is now tied for the lead with 37 career wins. She is also CU's all-time leader in save percentage (.862) and goals against average (.79). 

Colorado finished 13-4-3 on the season, setting a school record with a 16-game unbeaten streak. The Buffs also set records in goals (47), assists (50) and total points (146).
