SAN FRANCISCO – Eight University of Colorado football players were named to the Pac-12 Conference Football All-Academic Honorable Mention Team on Monday.Â
To qualify, a student-athlete must possess a minimum 3.0 grade point average and appear in at least 50 percent of their team's games.Â
Lucas Cooper (Strategic Communication), Josh Goldin (Business Finance), Aaron Haigler (Strategic Communication), Tim Lynott (Strategic Communication), Nico Magri (Business Management), Davis Price (Journalism), Colby Pursell (Integrative Physiology) and Carson Wells (Business) all earned honorable mention selection to the team.
Cooper, Goldin, Magri and Price played primarily on special teams this season. Price began the season as CU's kickoff specialist and on 60 kickoffs, he had 34 touchbacks including 19 through the end zone. He punted in eight games when Alex Kinney went down due to injury and had 48 punts for an average of 38.4 yards with 20 inside the 20 and 24 resulting in a fair catch.  Cooper was on the punt coverage unit and recorded five special teams points. Magri was on the punt unit as one of the three players on the backfield protection line and Goldin served as the holder in eight games, also when Kinney was injured.Â
Haigler, Lynott and Pursell were all starters on the offensive line as the four started all but four games collectively up front for the Buffs in 2018. Pursell played more offensive snaps, 830, more than any other lineman, and finished with 12 knockdown blocks, 13 touchdown blocks and 13 perfect plays on touchdown passes.  Lynott played in 644 offensive snaps and led the Buffs with 18 knockdown blocks and along with Haigler, led the way with 15 perfect plays on touchdown passes. Lynott only committed one penalty and Haigler zero throughout the season.
Wells played in all 12 games on defense and two on offense, recording 34 tackles and he was second on the team with 4.5 sacks and led the team with 13 third down stops. He also had six quarterback pressures, 5.5 total tackles for loss and three more for no gain. On offense, he lined up at fullback for two plays, one in each of the last two games, and the Buffs scored on both plays and he had key blocks on both those plays.
