March 21, 2018 | Men's Golf, Lacrosse
Yannik Paul (men's golf) and Julia Lisella (lacrosse) have earned UCHealth CU Athlete of the Week honors after their outstanding performances last week.
Senior Yannik Paul led the way for CU at last week's Lamkin San Diego Invitational, as the Buffaloes finished 8th among a loaded 16-team field. He finished the tournament with a 3-over 54-hole score of 219 (74-72-73), which earned him 32nd place individually. Despite shooting 2-over in a tough opening round, Paul bounced back to shoot an even par on his second round. He climbed five spots into 32nd with a 1-over 73 in his final round. Over 54 holes, he finished with nine birdies, 33 pars and 12 bogeys. Paul was also 6-under par on par-5 holes, 10th-best in the 96-man field.
Redshirt sophomore goalie Julia Lisella continues to impress for the 15th-ranked Buffaloes, posting a career-high 17 saves (good for fourth on CU's single-game list) in an overtime loss to No. 12 USC on Friday. Lisella stopped the first five shots she faced, allowing CU to build a 3-0 lead in the first half. She continued her stellar play in the second half, stopping 11-of-15 shots on goal. Then in Sunday's game against Arizona State, Lisella did not allow a goal in the first half, which marked the first time since April 1, 2016, the Buffs have blanked an opponent in a half. She allowed just two goals and finished the game with nine saves. For the weekend, Lisella allowed 4.97 goals per game and had a .722 save percentage.
