Perrin, Kiernan, Morley Earn UCHealth CU Athletes Of The Week

BOULDER - Darby Kiernan, Makena Morley, and Zach Perrin were all named winners of this week's UCHealth CU Athletes of the week following their performances in women's lacrosse, women's track and field and men's track and field.
Senior Darby Kiernan led the Buffs to a 2-0 record last weekend, which included their first win over USC since 2014. In that game, Kiernan scored five goals and added three assists to tie a career-high eight point performance. Three of her five goals came on free-position attempts. She was also very dominate on draw controls, winning seven. In the following win against ASU, Kiernan again dominated in the draw circle, winning eight. She tallied three points with two goals and an assist. Her assist in the win against ASU tied her for the CU career assists record (64). CU has now won 16 straight home games at Kittredge Field, and 17 straight home games.
Sophomore Makena Morley registered the fastest 1,500 meter time in the Pac-12 this season and fourth fastest in the entire nation when she ran an adjusted 4:15.59 on Saturday at the Colorado Invitational. It set a new personal record for the Bigfork, Mont. native and put her just outside of the top 10 on CU's top performers list in school history.
Senior Zach Perrin's adjusted 3:42.29 in the 1,500 meters that he ran Saturday at the Colorado Invitational was the seventh fastest time recorded in the country this season. He placed second in the event that had 105 entries and 88 finishers in what was his first outdoor race of the 2018 season.
Also nominated for this week's honor: Gunner Rigsby (Men's track and field)
Freshman Gunner Rigsby won both of the events he competed in on Saturday at the Colorado Invitational. He first won the long jump and did so by setting a new PR with a leap of 23-01.25 (7.04m). He followed that up by taking first in the triple jump with a mark of 47-09.00 (14.55m). His long jump was the first victory of his career in the event while in the triple jump he has now won two of the three times he's competed in it.
