RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. — Just a few months removed from being a student-athlete at the University of Colorado, Brittany Fan won her first women's golf tournament as a professional on Friday, shooting a 5-under 211 at the Mission Hills-Shore Tournament.
At the completion of the 54-hole tournament, Fan was tied with Katie Yoo, forcing a playoff. Both players made par on the first hole and both birdied the second hole. The difference came in the third hole as Fan recorded her second straight birdie to win.
Fan, a Pearl City, Hawai'i native, shot a 3-under 69 in the first round on Wednesday and followed it up with a 2-under 70 on Thursday. She finished with an even 72 on Friday.
