CU Opens Italy Tour With Win Over Italian Select

PONTE BUGGIANESE, Italy - Colorado's women's basketball team opened its foreign tour with an 82-36 win over an Italian Select team on Friday afternoon.

Kennedy Leonard led CU with 15 points and had six rebounds and two assists, shooting 6-of-8 from the floor. Peyton Carter finished with 12 points off the bench, catching fire from the outside in the fourth quarter and making 3-of-6 from deep in the game. Annika Jank started and had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. She made all six of her free throw attempts.

Eleven of CU's 12 players that participated in the game scored. Head coach JR Payne gave out equal playing time as every player was on the floor for between 10 and 20 total minutes.

The Buffs outscored the Italian team 17-5 in the second quarter to pull away from a tight first quarter.

CU outrebounded its opponent 74-33 and shot 10-of-26 (.385) from the outside.
