Tompkins Honored, Buffs Ranked

Colorado starts the week at No. 23
SAN FRANCISCO – University of Colorado goalkeeper Jalen Tompkins helped the Buffaloes soccer team remain unbeaten last week. She picked up wins over Utah Valley and instate rival Denver on her way to being named the Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week.
For  Tompkins, the weekly honor is her first of the season. It marks the sixth weekly honor of her career. She won the award three times last season. Colorado has now had three different players honored by the conference this season.

Tompkins, a native of Phoenix, Ariz., began the week with a scoreless performance against Utah Valley. She played a perfect first half against the Wolverines, making two saves. The junior got the starting nod against Denver on Sunday. The Buffs gained a 2-0 lead in the first half. Tompkins stopped all four shots she faced to help complete CU's first unbeaten record in non-conference play in program history.

Tompkins ranks second in the Pac-12 with a . 917 save percentage, just behind teammate Scout Watson (.938). Tompkins and Watson have combined for the nation's fifth-ranked save percentage (. 939). Individually, Tompkins ranks 13th in the NCAA with a . 383 goals against average. She has made 22 saves on the season and has not allowed a goal in her last 178:33.

BUFFS RANKED
Colorado cracked the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 rankings for the first time this season. The Buffs are ranked No. 23 in the weekly poll with an 8-0-1 record. It is the first time Colorado has been ranked in the pollÂsince  Sept. 5, 2017. Colorado is one of just 14 teams left in DI to not have a loss.Â

CU comes in at No. 20 in this week's TopDrawerSoccer.com poll. Colorado has steadily moved up Top Drawer rankings, having been No. 23 and No. 22 in previous weeks.
