#NFLBuffs: Undrafted Rookie Lindsay Impresses Again In Week 2
September 19, 2018 | Football
Undrafted Broncos rookie Phillip Lindsay headlines this week's NFL Buffs performances, as nine former CU players saw action in Week 2.
Â
Two weeks into the season, rookie running back Phillip Lindsay has established himself as one of the Broncos most explosive offensive weapons. Lindsay rushed for 107 yards on 14 carries in a 20-19 win over the Raiders, making him the first undrafted rookie in NFL history to gain over 100 yards from scrimmage in each of his first two professional games.
Â
After a first quarter that saw the Broncos muster just 23 yards of offense, Lindsay broke loose for a 53-yard run on his first touch of the second quarter. NFL Next Gen Stats clocked him at 20.76 mph on his 53-yard run, the third fastest of any ball carrier in Week 2 action. The run was the team's longest of the young season and was 13 yards longer than the Broncos' longest rush  (CJ Anderson, 40 yards vs. Oakland) last season.
Â
Through two games, Lindsay ranks third in the NFL in rushing yards with 178, while his 6.1 yards per carry rank fifth among eligible players (minimum of 6.25 carries per game). For the second straight week he is up for NFL Rookie of the Week honors. He is also one of three running backs nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week, recognizing the league's best rusher each week.

Mason Crosby – Packers Kicker
The all-time leading scorer at the University of Colorado and for the Green Bay Packers added to his career tally on Sunday, accounting for 17 Packers points in a 29-29 tie with the Vikings.
Crosby started the game a perfect 5-of-5 on field goals, tying his career-high for field goals made. It appeared for a moment that Crosby was going to make it 6-for-6, as he made a 52-yard would-be game-winning field goal that was called off due to a Vikings timeout before the snap. He missed his second attempt. Crosby has accounted for 23 points in the first two weeks, the fourth-highest total in the NFL this season. His career total currently stands at 1,368 points.
Â
Chidobe Awuzie – Cowboys Cornerback
Cornerback Chidobe Awuzie continues to be one of the Cowboy's most consistent defenders, playing all 68 defensive snaps in Dallas' 20-13 win over the Giants. Awuzie matched up with the Giants' star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. for much of the night, as the Dallas secondary limited Beckham to just four catches on nine targets for 51 yards. He led all defensive players with eight solo tackles. Through two games, Awuzie ranks second on the team with 12 tackles, all of which have been solo tackles.
