Kornieck, Macdonald Named Arrow CU Athletes of the Week

BOULDER – Taylor Kornieck from soccer and Ross Macdonald from men's golf were named the CU Athletes of the Week presented by Arrow for the week of Sept. 17-23.
Kornieck returned from injury to spark the Buffs to a 6-0 win over Oregon State in the Buffs Pac-12 opener. With the win, the Buffs improve to 9-0-1 overall and 1-0 in the Pac-12. She now has nine assists on the season, tied for the lead nationally and alone in the lead in the Pac-12. It also matches the CU single season record alongside Kathryn Grandinetti (2003).
Macdonald used a final round 5-under par 67 to surge up 22 spots into the top 20 in the final standings of the Showdown In The Rockies, hosted by Utah in Driggs, Idaho. He had six birdies and just one bogey with 11 pars and finished the three rounds with 10 birdies. Overall, he finished at 2-over par 218.
Also nominated was Alexa Smith from volleyball. Smith led the Buffs to an win over No. 23 Utah and helped the Buffs push No. 14 USC to a fifth set last week. She led the team in both kills and digs in both matches with 15 kills and 23 digs against the Utes and 18 kills and 15 digs against the Trojans.
