Buffs Tabbed 17th in IWLCA Preseason Poll

BOULDER — For the second straight season, the University of Colorado lacrosse team is ranked in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Preseason Poll, which was released on Monday afternoon.

The Buffs were picked 17^th after finishing the 2018 season with a 14-6 record, which included a 9-1 mark to win the regular season Pac-12 Championship. CU is the highest ranked Pac-12 team in the poll with Stanford coming in at 18^th and Southern California at 21^st. The Buffs are also ranked higher than in-state rival Denver, which came in 19^th.

CU will open up its 2019 campaign on Saturday, Feb. 9, against No. 6 Florida at 12 p.m. at Kittredge Field. Prior to that contest, the Buffs will head to Evanston, Ill. to scrimmage No. 7 Northwestern on Friday, Feb. 1, at 1:30 p.m.

The Buffs return eight starters from last season, including IWLCA Goalkeeper of the Year, Julia Lisella. All-region honoree Miranda Stinson also returns and was second on the team in scoring in 2018.

The other two lacrosse polls were released earlier this preseason. CU was picked 18^th in the NIKE/US Lacrosse Magazine Poll and was selected 19^th in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.
