January 07, 2019 | Track and Field

NEW ORLEANS — University of Colorado senior Dani Jones has been selected to the Preseason Watch List for The Bowerman, collegiate track & field's highest honor, which is presented by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Jones has seen a great deal of success on the track throughout her career. She was the 2017 NCAA indoor 3,000-meter run champion and was a member of the CU school record-setting distance medley relay team that won the NCAA title at the same meet. A two-time outdoor All-American in the 1,500, she also owns freshman school records in the 800 (2:05.27) and 1,500 (4:13.44).

During the 2018 summer, she raced in the high performance section of the 1,500 at the Prefontaine Classic and finished first with a then-personal best of 4:07.33. At the 2018 USATF Championships, she brought home a fifth-place finish in the 1,500 with a time of 4:09.16.

The initial watch list consists of 10 women and will be updated throughout the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons. The other members of the women's watch list include:

Lynna Irby, Georgia
Lexi Jacobus, Arkansas
Dani Jones, Colorado
Ednah Kurgat, New Mexico

*It is important to note that performances achieved in cross country, or any other sport other than indoor and outdoor track & field, should not be considered for the honor.
