Nayar Advances To Consolation Second Round

November 07, 2019 | Tennis

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Colorado Buffaloes women's tennis star Sara Nayar advances to the Round of 16 in the consolation of the ITA Fall National Championship in Newport Beach, Calif.

The sophomore began action Wednesday with a two-set loss to No.15-ranked Christina Rosca of Vanderbilt in the championship first round. She fell in the first set 6-1, then dropped the second in a closer 6-3 set.

Nayar was scheduled to take on Valeriya Zeleva of UCF Thursday but the No.29-ranked player in the nation withdrew due to injury. This sets No.66-ranked Nayar up for a matchup of Pac-12 foes as she is set to take on No.60 Janice Shin of Stanford Friday.

Friday will mark the first time this season that all eight Buffaloes will be in competition as Nayar continues in the ITA Fall National Championship and the rest of the squad opens play at the Rebel Invitational in Las Vegas.
