Price Calmly Delivers Game Winner For Buffaloes

BOULDER — Redshirt freshman placekicker Evan Price was key in the Colorado Buffaloes' 16-13 win Saturday afternoon over Stanford.
Price was informed only two days prior to the game that he was going to be the starting placekicker against the Cardinal. He was named the starter due to injury problems with senior James Stefanou. The redshirt freshman hit three field goals in Saturday's win, including the 37-yard game-winner as time expired.
"I just wanted to go out there and pretend it was a practice kick and do what I normally do," Price said. "Trust the holder, trust the snapper and trust the line, and everything just went right"
The game-winning kick was the first walk-off field goal for the Buffaloes since 2007 against Oklahoma. Saturday's field goal was also Price's first game-winner as he was 3-for-3 on his first field goal tries of the season. The Evergreen, Colo., native played in only two games last season and had played in only one this season prior to Saturday.
Despite his lack of experience, Price's teammates still trusted him.
"We believe in our kicker so that's why we put him in that position to make that kick." said senior linebacker Davion Taylor, "We weren't really surprised because we believe in him."
Evan is also not the only Price on the Buffs' roster. His brother, Davis Price, is a senior kicker at CU who has recently been the main kicker on kickoffs for the Buffaloes. Asked how it feels to play with his brother at the end of his senior season, Price said, "It's incredible. I couldn't ask for a better ending to his senior season. He's playing and I'm playing and it's working out for us. I'm just trying to cherish these last couple games I have with him"
NEXT UP: Price and the Colorado Buffaloes have a bye week next week before returning to action on Nov. 23 for a home matchup against the Washington Huskies.
