Stinson, Wright Named CU Athletes of the Week Presented by Arrow

BOULDER - Lacrosse attacker Miranda Stinson and men's basketball guard McKinley Wright IV were named the CU Athletes of the Week, presented by Arrow, for the period of Feb. 11-17.
Miranda Stinson, a senior from Manakin Sabot, Va., played a complete game for the Buffs offensively and defensively against Virginia Tech. She recorded four goals in the win, including three in the first 10 minutes of play. She also addedĀ two assistsĀ for sixĀ points in the game. But she didn't just stop there, she led the Buffs with three caused turnovers, including one where she picked off a pass and finished the fast break with a goal. She also added three draw controls andĀ fourĀ ground balls as the Buffs upset Virginia Tech, 17-6, in Blacksburg, Va. on Saturday. Ā
McKinley Wright IV, a sophomore from North Robbinsdale, Minn., averaged 19.0 points, 5.0 assists and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 64 percent (14-22) against the two Arizona schools this past week. He led Colorado to its second-consecutive home-sweep of Arizona State and Arizona. Wright Helped the Buffaloes increase their overall win streak to five games, their longest ever in the Pac-12 and most since 2005-06 in the Big 12. He scored a season-high 24 points against Arizona State, his fifth 20-point game of the season.

Lesila Finau, Women's Basketball ā The freshman scored 6 points and 2 assists in loss to Arizona then put up 6 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds in the loss to Arizona State.

Christina Rolandsen, Skiing ā The senior earned her first podium of the season, finishing third place in the 10K freestyle race as part of the UAA Invitational Sunday. It was her seventh career podium finish, five of which have come in freestyle races. It was also her second top five finish of the season and she now has one each in classic and freestyle.

Jeremy Cody, Track and Field ā The freshman jumped 2.09 meters (6-10.25) in the high jump to move to 9thĀ in the CU top-10 in the event.

Erik Dengerud, Skiing ā The freshman led the Buffs in Nordic action Sunday, as he finished fourth in the 10K freestyle races at the UAA Invitational. His fourth-place finish is his season and career best as he was just seven seconds behind the race winner.Ā
