1970 Graduate Has Been With the National Football Foundation Since 2006
Steve Hatchell, a 2017 CU Hall of Fame inductee and the current president & CEO of the National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame, has an entire chapter dedicated to him in a new book titled "1st and Forever: Making the Case for the Future of Football."
Â
The book compiles a series of stories about people who benefited from playing football and went on to make great contributions to society, including Hatchell and others who became business titans, politicians, military heroes and community leaders. The chapter featuring Hatchell captures his role as one key figures in the nation today promoting football. In the chapter, Hatchell outlines the NFF's strategy for addressing the safety concerns surrounding the sport and the organization's efforts to highlight why allowing kids to play football is a good thing.
Â
"I've heard people equate letting kids play football with child abuse," Hatchell is quoted in the book. "That may sound crazy, but it's out there and there's an audience for that kind of talk. The counter-narrative has to come from the people speaking up whose football experiences contributed to all the success they've achieved."
Â
The book, written by Bob Casciola with a Foreword by Archie Manning and an Afterword by Bobby Bowden, is available for purchase on Amazon.
Â
A Colorado native, Steve Hatchell is a 1970 graduate of the University of Colorado and has worked in some capacity with intercollegiate athletics for the majority of his professional career. He was inducted into CU's Athletic Hall of Fame in its 2017 class, and into the CoSIDA Hall of Fame in its 2018 class among dozens of honors he has received during his lifetime.
