Kornieck Lands on MAC Hermann Watch List

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Colorado senior Taylor Kornieck was named to the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy Watch List on Thursday. It is the third consecutive season the Buffalo standout has been selected to the list. A total of 61 women's players from across the country were recognized.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is awarded annually to the top men's and women's collegiate soccer players in the country and is the most prestigious individual collegiate soccer award.

Kornieck is coming off a superb junior campaign in 2018. She became the first Buff to earn All-America honors since the 2006 season, earning second-team recognition. Kornieck totaled a career-high 28 points in just 16 matches, setting a CU record with 10 assists. She scored nine goals last season on her way to a second first-team All-Pac-12 selection.

"Taylor has already established herself as one of the all-time great Buffs," head coach Danny Sanchez exclaimed. "It is great that she is being recognized nationally for the third time by MAC. We all feel that she still has more to give as a senior captain this fall. This has the makings to be her best season yet."

The 6-foot-1 midfielder was among the top offensive players in the nation last season. She totaled a school-record 1.75 points per game (11th NCAA). Kornieck rocketed up the CU record lists, moving into first with 1.20 points per game in three seasons. She is currently second in goals per game (.45), fourth in goals (27) and third in assists (18).

Kornieck has collected a long list of accolades throughout her career. She set the tone early on by picking up the 2016 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. She earned her first MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List in 2017 to go along with a Top Drawer Soccer second-team Preseason All-America selection. She was a 2018 TDS Preseason All-American and was selected to the ESPNW Player of the Year Watch.
