CU jumps into the rankings for first time this season

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Colorado soccer team moved into the United Soccer Coaches Top-25 for the first time this season on Tuesday. The Buffaloes moved up to No. 24 this week, following a pair of shutout wins over Austin Peay and Baylor.

Colorado (6-0-0) had been receiving votes since the preseason rankings. The team is also ranked No. 17 in the Top Drawer Soccer poll.

The Buffs held both the Governors and Lady Bears scoreless last week to wrap up the best homestand in program history. CU's undefeated start matches its best open since the 2013 season. Freshman Roo Yarnell-Williams scored both CU goals last week, recording game-winners in each contest. Austin Peay registered an own goal, accounting for Colorado's second goal of the match.

Colorado is on the road for the first time this week. The Buffs head to Tallahassee, Fla., on Thursday to face the defending national champion Florida State. The Seminoles spent time at No. 1 this season but have gone 0-2 against the Pac-12 this season. FSU is ranked No. 6 for the second consecutive week.

Yarnell-Williams Selected to Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week
The freshman continued to impress for the Buffs last week. She now has three goals in her first six collegiate games.

The Sacramento, Calif., native came off the bench against Austin Peay scoring on a long throw in in the 64th minute. Yarnell-Williams also contributed to CU's second goal, playing a dangerous ball into the box for an own goal. She was back in the starting lineup against Baylor and put her header attempt in the net in the 16th minute, helping the Buffs past Baylor with the lone tally.
