Buffaloes, Pac-12 Announce 2019-20 Basketball Schedule

September 12, 2019 | Men's Basketball

BOULDER – The University of Colorado will play prominent games in prominent slots throughout the 2019-20 men's basketball season as its schedule with times and television assignments was announced Thursday by the Pac-12 Conference.

Coming off a 23-win season and with over 90 percent of their roster production returning, the Buffaloes will play 12 games against teams that advanced to the postseason 2019 – eight of those coming in the nonconference schedule alone. Colorado will play eight games against five different 2019 NCAA Tournament teams, highlighted by home contests with Oregon and Washington and a road tilt with long-time rival Kansas.

The Buffaloes will be showcased to a national audience all-season long and in some prime locations. Colorado has 11 games scheduled for the ESPN Family of Networks, 11 on the Pac-12 Network and three on FS1.

In addition, the Buffaloes will be front-and-center for a pair of traditional over-the-air broadcasts. Colorado travels to Arizona on Saturday, Jan. 18, for a 12:30 p.m. tip on FOX. One month later, CBS comes to town for Senior Day as the Buffaloes host UCLA on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. It will be the first time an over-the-air network has come to Boulder for national broadcast of a men's basketball game since ABC aired the Colorado-Kansas matchup on Jan. 17, 2009.

Times and television for two games will be released at a later date: at Kansas on Saturday, Dec. 7, and Dayton, in Chicago, on Saturday, Dec. 21.

Colorado will open the 2019-20 regular season with a nonconference game against Arizona State in Shanghai, in the Pac-12 China Game. The game will be played on Friday, Nov. 8, at 8:30 p.m. MT – 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, locally in Shanghai - on ESPN2.

The Buffaloes will open their home schedule on Saturday, Nov. 16, against San Diego (8 p.m., Pac-12). Two reigning conference champions and NCAA Tournament teams will come to Boulder during the nonconference schedule. Big West champion UC Irvine will visit on Monday, Nov. 18 (7 p.m., Pac-12) as part of the MGM Main Event while Southwestern Athletic titlist Prairie View A&M comes to town on Thursday, Dec. 19 (6:30 p.m., Pac-12).

Colorado's conference season tips off with a bang on Thursday, Jan. 2, as the Buffaloes host defending Pac-12 Tournament champion Oregon at 7 p.m. on ESPN2. Both teams are receiving early national Top 25 recognition by several outlets and are being considered among the favorites for the Pac-12 title.

The Buffaloes, as previously announced by the Pac-12, will have their first three, and five of their first seven, at home to begin conference play. During that span, Colorado has its "conference game" at Arizona State on Thursday, Jan. 16 (7 p.m., ESPN or ESPN2), at Arizona and home against 2019 Pac-12 regular season champion Washington on Saturday, Jan. 25 (7 p.m., FS1).

The Arizona and Washington schools are CU's one-time opponents, in the Pac-12's final year of the 18-game conference schedule. Colorado skips the trip to Washington and Washington State, while missing the Arizona schools at home. The Pac-12 will move to a 20-game conference schedule for the 2020-21 season.

Colorado will finish its season with three-straight, and five-of-seven, on the road. The Buffaloes final home weekend includes USC on Thursday, Feb. 20 (7 p.m., ESPN or ESPN2) and the Saturday matinee vs. UCLA.

Season tickets for Colorado men's basketball are on sale now and begin at $165. For more information visit CUBuffs.com/tickets or call 303-49BUFFS.
