Lacrosse Celebrates 2019 Season At Banquet

BOULDER — The 2019 Colorado lacrosse team had a season to remember last spring, and on Sunday afternoon, the team got back together to celebrate its successful campaign.
Head coach Ann Elliott Whidden welcomed the crowd at the start of the banquet and thanked the members of her staff and support staff for their assistance during the last season.
She went on to talk about the season which saw the Buffs record an 11-8 record. CU advanced to its third straight NCAA Tournament and made it to the second round of the tournament for the second time in as many years. CU also recorded an 8-2 mark in Pac-12 play, which was second in the league standing.
After recapping the season, Whidden handed out awards. First up, were the All-Pac-12 awards. Olivia Aschman, Samantha Nemirov and Miranda Stinson received their first team awards, while Sadie Grozier and Julia Lisella picked up their second team awards. Stinson was also given the award for the Pac-12 Attacker of the Year.
Three Buffs earned IWLCA All-West/Midwest region honors. Stinson was selected to the first team, while Aschman and Nemirov were second team honorees.
There were also several academic award to be handed out, starting with the Pac-12 All-Academic Team. Aschman, Eliza Cahill and Audrey Kingdom were named to the first team, while Elinor Wolf was selected to the second team. Seven others were named to the honorable mention team: Sophie Castillo, Anna Collawn, Grozier, Lisella, Macaul Mellor, Nemirov and Madi Wifall.
As a team, the Buffs earned the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Team award and had eight named to the academic honor roll: Aschman, Castillo, Kingdom, Bridget Mitchell, Nemirov, Annika Nissen, Holly Sutherland and Wolf.
Each class also received their letter awards at the banquet.
The crowd was treated to the banquet highlight video and Caroline Perry closed out the event with a speech.
