September 18, 2019 | Football, General, Women's Golf
BOULDER—Football's Laviska Shenault Jr., and women's golfer Kirsty Hodgkins were named the CU Athletes of the Week, presented by Arrow, for the week of Sept. 9-15.
Shenault, a junior from DeSoto, Texas, hauled in eight receptions for 124 yards and one receiving touchdown against Air Force. He also added 25 yards on three carries and a second touchdown on the ground late in the fourth quarter. His two scores give him three on touchdowns on the season. It was the fourth game of his career that he reached the endzone by both rushing and receiving.Â
Shenualt continues to rise in the CU record books. He moved up a spot to 15th on CU's all-time receiving yards list (1,382). His eight receptions also moved him into 15th with 109 career catches. Shanualt tied Phil Savoy (1994-97) for the seventh most 100-yard receiving games, registering his sixth against Air Force.Â
On the women's side, Hodgkins recorded a runner-up finish at the SMU Trinity Forest Invitational after leading during the first two rounds. She carded a 67 (5-under) in the first round, which at the time set the women's amateur course record. In her second round, she earned a 1-under 71 for a two-round total of 138 (-6). The senior from Brisbane, Australia, led the field by two strokes, but despite an even 72 in the final round, she was not able to hang on for the win as Texas Tech's Sophia Garcia shot an 8-under 64 for a two-day total of 206 (-10).Â
Hodgkins' round of 67 is tied for the eighth-lowest 18-hole par-72 score in CU history and her two-round total of 138 is tied for the seventh-lowest 36-hole score in school history. Her final total of 210 (6-under) tied for the fourth-lowest 54-hole score on a par 72. In total, this was her eighth top-five finish, which has her tied for first in school history.
