Buffs Close Out Coach Prime's Third Season in Manhattan: Five Things to Know
November 27, 2025 | Football
MANHATTAN, Kan. — Colorado football closes out its 2025 campaign with a visit to Kansas State to take on the Wildcats on Saturday.
It will be the 68th meeting between the Buffs and Wildcats. KSU narrowly edged out the Buffs, 31-28, in last season's meeting in Boulder. CU leads the all-time series 45-21-1 and has a slight 17-15-1 advantage in Manhattan.
Colorado (3-8, 1-7 Big 12), according to the NCAA's strength of schedule list, has played the ninth-toughest schedule in the nation, with opponents compiling a 71-39 (.645) record to date. It's the toughest in the Big 12 and second-toughest outside the Big Ten or SEC.
Eight of CU's 12 opponents are bowl eligible, tied for fifth-most nationally, with two of the remaining four still able to get to six wins, including Kansas State, and the two bowl-ineligible teams CU has faced are both 4-7 (West Virginia, Wyoming).
Wisconsin has faced 10 bowl-eligible teams with no more possibilities, while South Carolina (1), Duke and Syracuse have faced nine to date. CU (2) is joined by NC State (1), Stanford (1), Arkansas (3) and Florida (3) with eight.

Five Things to Know
- K-State Trends: Colorado has faced the Wildcats 68 times, third most among Big 12 opponents behind Utah (72) and Kansas (71). CU's 45 wins over K-State are the second-most against any Big 12 opponent (50, ISU) and the third-most overall (69, CSU).
- Omarion Miller: WR Omarion Miller is one of the Big 12's hottest receivers, hitting the end zone for the 8th time this season vs. ASU. In the last six games, he has at least three catches, seven of his eight TDs. He has 13 receptions of 20-plus yards, second in the Big 12, and leads the Big 12 at 18.6 per catch.
- Juju's Start: Freshman QB Julian Lewis delivered one of the best true freshman debuts in CU history, throwing for 299 yards, 2 TDs and no interceptions at West Virginia and in essentially 2.5 games, he has 589 yards with 4 TDs and 0 INT with a QBR of 122.0.
- Player Availability: Coach Prime refuses to use it as an excuse, but CU's injuries have been mounting. Last year, CU had 26 players see action in all 13 games, including 8 on offense and 11 on defense. This year's overall total is similar, 23, but only five on offense and six on defense, and only four players have started all 11 games, two on each side of the ball (OL Z. Crisler, OL Z. McGill, N P. Hodge, DE K. Wade).
- Byard & Hodge: CU's defense has been banged up, but S Tawfiq Byard and N Preston Hodge have been solid. Byard is 2nd in the league behind Jacob Rodriguez for solo tackles in league play and Hodge leads the Big 12 and is top five nationally with 1.27 passes defended per game.
