The senior tied Nikki Marshall for CU's all-time career points lead
TUCSON, Ariz.– Senior Taylor Kornieck scored two goals and tied former Buffalo Nikki Marshall as Colorado's all-time points leader in CU's 2-1 overtime win at Arizona on Friday.
Kornieck scored her seventh and eighth goals of the season, giving her 21 points this season. She now has 93 career points, tying Marshall's 10-year old record.
The win gets No. 24 CU off to a 1-0-0 start to the Pac-12 season. Colorado moves to 9-1-0 overall. The loss drops Arizona to 6-2-0.
How it happened
Arizona caught the first break of the match in the 7th minute. The Wildcats corner kick bounced around in the goal box and ended up in the back of the net off the foot of a CU defender.
The Buffs flipped the switch in the match following the own goal. Kayleigh Webb and Taylor Kornieck helped lead CU's offensive charge. Kornieck put a header on net in the 37th minute that forced a leaping save from Hope Hisey.
Kornieck didn't have to wait long to get another chance. Tatum Barton forced her way into scoring position and got pulled down in the 39th minute. The yellow card came out and Kornieck lined up from 20 yards out. Her shot was on a rope and blasted through the Arizona wall into the left corner.
Colorado lead 9-3 in shots going into the half, putting six on target. Colorado's backline was solid in the first half, not allowing Arizona to get a shot on net.
Neither team could get on the board in the second half. Kornieck had the best chance of the half, bouncing a header through traffic towards the left post. The ball bounced along the goal line but didn't cross the threshold and was sent back out by Arizona.
Kornieck kept pushing for the Buffs in the extra time. Hannah Sharts served up a long ball in the 92nd minute directed towards Kornieck. She was able to direct a long header in on Hisey but that was about it for the offense in the first overtime.
CU put the pressure on the Wildcats in the second overtime, spending a majority of the time in the Arizona zone. Webb was able to play the ball into the middle of the box and got pulled down from behind, drawing a penalty kick. Kornieck stepped the ball and drilled it home for the winner.

Overall thoughts
"I told the team after the game that we were very resilient. That was a very good Arizona team. It was a blessing and a curse to give up that early goal. It gave us a long time to make up the goal, but you never want to fall behind on the road. I thought Kayleigh Webb was unfortunate on the own goal but then she draws the penalty at the end. It was a great team performance and great result on the road against a very good Arizona team."
