December 07, 2020 | Football, General
BOULDER- Football's Jarek Broussard is the CU Athlete of the Week, presented by Arrow.Â
Broussard continued the record-setting start to his career on Saturday in a 24-13 win against Arizona, where he rushed for 301 yards on 25 rushing attempts in a 24-13 Buffs win. It is just the fourth time a Buff has ran for 300 yards in a game and the first since Chris Brown ran for 309 yards in 2002.
Â
The sophomore running back had three carries for 50-plus yards (75,72,59) which set a new record for Colorado. Broussard ran for 155 yards in the second quarter which is a CU record for rushing yards in a quarter, breaking Eric Bieniemy's 131 yards in 1988. His 184 rushing yards in the first half are the second-most in a half in program history behind Charlie Davis' 206 yards in 1971.
Â
He has now rushed for 733 yards to start the 2020 season, which are the first four games of his career. He is just the fourth player in the FBS since 1996 to run for 100-plus in his first four career games. His average of 183.3 yards per game is second in the nation, behind Buffalo's Jaret Patterson (230.0).Â
It is the second time Broussard has won the Athlete of the Week award this season. Broussard also won the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week award for the second time on the season. Â
