Jones And Boee Named CU Athletes Of The Week, Presented by Arrow

BOULDER - Women's track athlete Dani Jones and men's skiing's Magnus Boee were named CU Athletes of the Week, presented by Arrow. 

Jones, a senior from Phoenix, Ariz.,  was the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week. Jones broke the Millrose Wanamaker collegiate mile record from 1988 when she ran 4:27.88, good for second in school history and sixth on the NCAA All-Time list. She is the first CU student-athlete to be named a National Athlete of the Week during the indoor season and the first from the MPSF since 2017. 

Boee, a freshman from Oslo, Norway, continued his stellar rookie season by winning the Owl Creek Chase, a 21K classic point-to-point race from Snowmass to Aspen that doubled as an RMISA Nordic Qualifier. He also finished second in the 10K freestyle race in Aspen the day before. He now has finished first or second in each of the last five starts and hasn't finished lower than fifth this season. He was named the RMISA Skier of the Week and has three wins and five podiums on the season, both leading the region.

Men's Golf- Ross Macdonald
Ross Macdonald paced the Buffaloes at the Amer Ari Invitational in Waikoloa, Hawaii. He turned in a 73-71-70--214 (2-under par) scorecard on the 7,074-yard, par-72 Waikoloa's King's Course layout. He tied for 44th with his 2-under 70 CU's best score in the final round/ His 36 pars were the 10th-most in the 123-man field, and he played the par-3s and par-4s the best of the Buffaloes at 1-over for each. CU finished 13 out of 20 teams.

Women's Skiing- Hedda Baangman
Junior Baangman finished eighth in the 5K freestyle race Saturday and followed that up with a seventh-place finish in the Owl Creek Chase on Sunday. The Owl Creek Chase is a 21K classic point-to-point race from Snowmass to Aspen. She now has six top 10 finishes and has finished all six races this season between fifth and eighth place.

Men's Basketball- McKinley Wright IV
McKinley Wright averaged 19.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists in sweep of Cal and Stanford. Shot 10 of 19 from the field including 5 of 8 from the 3-point line. Had a game-high 21 points against Stanford leading the Buffaloes back from a 16-point second half deficit.

Women's Lacrosse- Sadie Grozier
Sadie Grozier led the 18th-ranked Buffaloes with four goals in a narrow 11-10 loss to No. 14 Florida. She recorded a 66.7 shot percentage, scoring on four of six shots. This was the seventh time in her career that she has recorded three of more goals in a single game.

Men's Track- Joe Klecker
Joe Klecker placed second in the 113th Millrose Games Dr. Sander Invitational 3,000. He ran 7:47.57, good for second in school history and 20th in the NCAA All-Time list.
