Jones And Klecker Named CU Athletes Of The Week, Presented By Arrow

BOULDER – Track and field's Joe Klecker and Dani Jones were named the CU Athletes of the Week, presented by Arrow, for the week of Jan. 27 – Feb. 2.

Klecker, a graduate student distance runner from Minnetonka, Minn., took down the Colorado Mile Soil Record Friday evening when he ran 4:01.00 seconds. The mark is the fastest in the nation after conversion, which puts the time at 3:55.13 seconds. Klecker was just 1.01 seconds from becoming the first male ever under the 4-minute barrier in the state.

Jones, a senior distance runner from Phoenix, Ariz., ran a school record in the women's 800, winning the race in 2:04.38 seconds this past weekend. The record was the longest-standing women's record at 42-years old. She is now second in the nation in the event and owns four marks in the top-three in school history.
