March 02, 2020 | Skiing

BOULDER—Mikaela Tommy was named the MVP of the RMISA for women's alpine, the league announced Monday.

Tommy, a senior from Wakefield, Quebec, has five race victories and nine podium appearances in 10 finishes this season.  She has won five of the six GS races so far this season and finished second in the other.  In slalom, she has finished four of six races with three podiums, including one runner-up performance.

Her five wins in GS this season are the most in CU history and accompanied with three last year, her eight overall GS wins is also the CU standard.  She is CU's first women's alpine MVP since Thea Grosvold in 2013 and since 2006, she's just the third, joining Grosvold and Lucie Zikova, who won it in 2006, '07 and '08.

Her six GS podiums this season matches the CU record set by Linda Wikstrom in 1999 and Zikova in 2008.  Her nine overall podium appearances is tied for third in CU history with Wikstrom and behind just Zikova, who had 12 in 2008 and 10 in 2006.

The MVP is awarded to the skier who accumulates the most NCAA Qualification points throughout the regular season.
