2021 Colorado Track & Field/Cross Country Schedule Announced

January 14, 2021 | Cross Country, Track and Field

BOULDER — After an abrupt end to the 2020 season last March, the Colorado track & field and cross country programs will get back to competing, starting at the end of January.

The indoor track and field team will kick off the schedule on January 21 at the Air Force Invitational. The three-day event at the U.S. Air Force Academy will include the pentathlon, heptathlon, field and track events, providing a chance for everyone to compete after the extended break in competition.

After the meet at the USAFA, the Buffs have two more indoor meets scheduled in Fayetteville, Ark., the Arkansas Invitational (January 29-30) and the Tyson Invitational (February 12-13). Arkansas is also slated to host the NCAA Indoor Championships, March 12-13.

During the indoor season, CU's cross country teams will begin action, starting on February 5 at the FSU Winter Cross Country Classic in Tallahassee, Fla. Just over two weeks later, the Buffs will have their final tune-up before the postseason begins, racing at the High Roller Invitational (Feb. 20) in Las Vegas.

Washington will host the Pac-12 Championships in Tacoma, Wash. on March 5 and the season will come to a close on March 15 at the NCAA Championships in Stillwater, Okla., just two days after the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Colorado's outdoor schedule is slated to start with its Jerry Quiller Classic, March 19-20, at Potts Field. From there, the Buffs will start to scatter most weekends with their disciplines. Distance runners will most likely race at the Stanford Invite, April 2, while the rest of the team will find the best competition locally at the CSU Invite on April 3 in Fort Collins. The Buffs' have one other home meet scheduled, the CU Invitational, April 9-10. The team will continue competing along the Front Range and on the West Coast for the remainder of the regular season.

USC will host the Pac-12 Championships May 14-16. NCAA West Preliminary Rounds are scheduled for May 27-29 in College Station, Texas. The season will culminate with the NCAA Outdoor Championships, June 9-12, in Eugene, Ore., at the newly renovated Hayward Field.

The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships were announced to be canceled Thursday morning. All other dates and times are subject to change.
