MORAGA, Calif. – Colorado women's tennis opened play at the St. Mary's College Fall Invite here Friday afternoon with four doubles wins and five singles victories.

Betina Tokac and Ellie Puzak advanced to the semifinals of the Flight B doubles after downing the duo from San Francisco 8-2 in their opening match. They followed up with a defeat of a St. Mary's tandem 8-6.

In the Flight A doubles, Ky Ecton and Sophia Derivan defeated a tandem from Pacific 8-4 but then fell to 8-3 in the second round to a team from Cal.

Also for Colorado, Antonia Balzert and Mila Stanojevic defeated the Pacific duo 8-5 in the Flight B opening round but dropped a second-round match to a tandem from Cal 8-2.

Megan Forster and Caroline Pozo had a pair of tough matches, dropping both of their sets by a score of 8-7(5).

All five Buffaloes that competed in singles today picked up wins to advance to the second round. Stanojevic and Derivan earned byes in the first round.

In the Flight A singles, Balzert made a comeback against Miaangelina Ruja of Pacific after dropping the first set 6-4. She rallied to take the next two sets 6-2. Forster handled Yana Gurevich of UC Davis 6-4, 6-3, followed by Pozo who defeated Pacific's Zoe Clydesdale-eberle 6-2, 7-6(6).

Flight B singles saw Tokac take down Giulia Hayer 6-2, 6-0, while Ecton defeated Madelyn Ejsmont of Sacramento State 6-2, 6-1.

Colorado returns to action tomorrow with action in both disciplines.
