SOELDEN, AUSTRIA – The Colorado Buffaloes ski team was well represented with Magdalena Luczak and Cass Gray both participating in the season-opening World Cup event for the 2021-22 season, both racing in the giant slalom race here Saturday.Â
Luczak had a strong showing, starting 54th in the first run and posting the 34th fastest first run, moving up some 20 spots. Â Unfortunately, only the top 30 advance to the second run where World Cup points are on the line. Â Luczak's time of 1:05.82 was just over six-tenths behind the 30th place skier from the first run, whose time was 1:05.38. Â
Gray completed her first run in a time of 1:06.61 and after starting in 66th place, she finished with the 45th fastest first run. Â
The USA's Mikaela Shiffrin won the race, her 70th career Wolrd Cup victory.Â
