Numerous Buffs Win CU Athlete Of The Week, Presented By Arrow

BOULDER- Eduardo Herrera (Cross Country), Hannah Sharts (Soccer), Ky Ecton (Tennis), Meegan Hart (Volleyball) and Rachel McArthur (Cross Country) are the CU Athletes of the Week, presented by Arrow.
 
Herrera made his move at the halfway mark of the Pac-12 Championships when he pulled away from the pack to take home the individual men's title. Herrera ran the Chambers Creek Park 8-kilometer race in 22 minutes, 30.9 seconds which was nearly 11 seconds faster than the second place finisher. Herrera is the second male Buff to win the race in consecutive years, joining Joe Klecker last season. 
 
Herrera was also named the USTFCCCA XC Athlete of the Week. This is the second time this season Herrera has won CU's Athlete of the Week award.
 
Sharts scored two goals in a weekend that included an upset win over No.10-ranked California on Friday for the Buffs. Sharts scored in the 44th minute against the Bears in a one-goal victory. She also was part of the defensive line that was key to limiting Cal's key opportunities on net. Sharts also scored against Stanford on Sunday in another near upset over the No.23-ranked Cardinal. 
 
Sharts now leads the Buffs in goals and points and has converted four goals on just six shots this season. This is aready her second Athlete of the Week award this season. 
 
Ecton won both her doubles and singles matches in an upset win over No.12-ranked California on Friday. Ecton was faced with a deuce match point, for herself and for the whole match, twice in the second set of her singles matchup. The junior battled back to take a 7-6 tiebreaker win, before sweeping the third set to win the individual and team match for the Buffs. 
 
Hart led the Buffs to a victory over the No.12-ranked UCLA Bruins on Sunday. The redshirt junior finished with 13 kills on .545 hitting, recording only one error. Hart also tallied eight blocks, an ace, and four key digs. The middle blocker added six more blocks in a loss to UCLA on Thursday.
 
McArthur led the way for the women at the Pac-12 Championships finishing fifth overall on the 6-kilometer course. McArthur was in a final sprint with another runner who edged her out for fourth-place by 0.2 seconds. The fifth-place finish is a 21-spot improvement from her standing in the event last year.
