Buffs Finish Ranked 61st In Nation

BOULDER – Colorado women's tennis team finished the season ranked 61st in the nation, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Wednesday morning.

The Buffs finished the season with a 9-12 record that included a 3-7 mark in Pac-12 conference play. The three wins is tied for the best in Pac-12 history for the Buffs and the 61st ranked mark is the first time Colorado has been in the final rankings as a Pac-12 member.

Much of Colorado's high ranking comes from upsetting No.12-ranked Cal at home in a 4-3 match on March 5th. The team picked up the doubles point along with huge wins by Megan Forster, Maria Campos and Ky Ecton. Forster defeated the 26th-ranked individual in the nation which helped both her and Campos earn All-Pac-12 honorable mentions this past week.

Colorado also upset Washington State 4-3 at home and finished off the regular season taking down Utah 4-1 where Campos became the first CU women's tennis player to compete in and win in all six singles spots in a single season.

National champion Texas took the final top spot while UCLA finished ranked No.5 in the nation to lead the Pac-12. With ASU at 31st, the conference of champions had five programs in the top-31 and finished with 10 of 11 programs ranked in the top-75.
