Buffs Earn USTFCCCA Academic Awards

NEW ORLEANS — The University of Colorado cross country team placed four individuals on the 2021 USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams.Â

India Johnson and Abby Nichols were selected to the women's team, while Brendan Fraser and Alec Hornecker were named to the men's team.

Johnson is working towards a master's in creative technology and design and has a 3.85 GPA, while Nichols has a 3.38 GPA while majoring in organizational leadership.

Fraser, another organizational leadership major, has recorded a 4.00 GPA. Hornecker is finishing up his master's in finance and currently owns a 3.30 GPA.

Both the women and men's teams earned the academic team honor. The women recorded a 3.540 cumulative GPA in the fall, marking the 35th consecutive semester over a 3.0 and the 18th straight semester over a 3.2. The men's team recorded a 3.216 cumulative GPA after earning their highest fall term GPA (3.354).

There were 168 women's programs and 150 men's programs which qualified for the team honor in the NCAA Division I. To earn the award, a team must have a cumulative GPA greater than 3.00 on a 4.00 scale. Individual honorees must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or greater and must have finished as an All-American (top 40) or among the 25 finishers (or 10 percent) in their regional meet.Â
