Colorado Finishes 11th at The Pac-12 Preview

KAILUA KONA, Hawai'i — The University of Colorado women's golf team fell two spots to 11th place to finish off the 2022 Pac-12 Preview at the Nanea Country Club on Wednesday.
The Buffaloes shot 16-over par, 308, in Wednesday's final round to end their fall season with a 54-hole total of 915, 39-over par.
Colorado was one stroke better than its second round on Tuesday, but the rest of the field had a much better day. The Buffaloes' 16-over was the second highest score of the round on the 6,449-yard par 73 Nanea Course.
Top-ranked Stanford cruised to the team title at 18-under, 858. No. 6 Oregon was a distant second at 8-under, 868, just edging out No. 13 Arizona at 7-under, 869, and No. 22 Arizona State at 5-under, 871.
"Not much to say, other than we just didn't play well today," Colorado head coach Anne Kelly said. "We couldn't get anything going and we were all pretty disappointed. We will need to work hard in the offseason to get ready to play better in the spring."
Sophomore Natalie Vo tied for 29th at 6-over, 225, logging Colorado's low 54-hole score for the second time in three tournaments. She had her high round of the tournament, shooting 5-over, 78.
Starting at No. 11 with the shotgun start, Vo was 2-over after three holes, but played the next 11 at 1-under with birdies on a pair of par-5s at No. 18 and No. 6. Vo fell into trouble down the stretch though, ending her round with four straight bogeys.
Senior Issy Simpson tied for 45th overall at 12-over, 231. Simpson was the most consistent in the tournament, shooting 4-over, 77, in all three rounds. She made par on 14 holes, including an eight-hole stretch from No. 14 through No. 3. Simpson's other four holes were all bogeys, accounting for her round of 4-over.
Junior Hailey Schalk tied for 51st overall at 15-over, 234. She shot 6-over, 79, in the final round, highlighted by birdies at the 342-yard, par 4, No. 2, and the 462-yard, par 5, No. 6.
Sophomore Lauren Gooding finished the tournament one stroke behind Schalk at 16-over, 235. Gooding had Colorado's best round of the day at 3-over, 76. She found herself at 5-over through 14 holes, but ended on a positive note with birdies at the 379-yard, par 4, No. 10 and on her final hole of the day at the 464-yard, par 4, No. 13.
Freshman Morgan Miller shot 4-over, 77, in Wednesday's final round. She had birdies at No. 4 and No. 7 to get to 1-over, but three-straight bogeys put her back to 4-over. She finished solid with four pars to end her initial fall season. Miller didn't officially place in the final individual standings after signing an incorrect scorecard on Tuesday.
Stanford's Rose Zhang, the nation's No. 2 ranked collegiate golfer, won medalist honors at 11-under, 208, three shots better than Oregon's Ashleigh Park at 8-under, 211.
Colorado will open the spring portion of its season with the Lamkin Invitational, hosted by San Diego State, Feb. 13-14, 2023, at The Farms Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
