Buffs Announce 2023 Schedule
December 21, 2022 | Lacrosse
BOULDER — The University of Colorado's women's lacrosse team released its 2023 regular season schedule today. The Buffs will play 16 games, with eight home fixtures.
CU will kick off their spring schedule with a tough home scrimmage against Northwestern. The Wildcats advanced to the NCAA semifinals last year before falling to North Carolina, the 2022 National Champions.
The Buffs will begin their regular season on the road against Vanderbilt (Feb. 10) and Louisville (Feb. 12) before hosting their first home game of the season against Denver (Feb. 18).
CU will ultimately host five Pac-12 games. The Buffs begin conference play in Boulder against Stanford (Mar. 17) and Cal (Mar. 19) on Kittredge Field. After traveling to USC (Mar. 24), Arizona State (Mar. 26), and Oregon (Apr. 1), the Buffs will return home to take on USC (Apr. 14) and Arizona State (Apr. 16) again. CU will hit the road again to face Stanford (Apr. 21) and Cal (Apr. 23), before closing out the regular season against Oregon (Apr. 28) at home.
"We are very excited about our spring schedule for the 2023 season. While we had some great moments last year and went 6-0 non-conference against great opponents, we fell short of our goals, head coach Ann Elliott Whidden commented. "This group has taken that to heart and has been working hard this fall to be ready for our spring season. We have another top-notch non-conference slate that will be challenging and help prepare us for conference play. It will also give us a great opportunity to build our NCAA resume. We are very excited about the opportunities we have to compete, in and out of conference, against some of the nation's best teams."
Once the Buffs finish the regular season, the team will travel to Berkley, Calif. to compete in the Pac-12 Tournament for an opportunity to win an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
The Pac-12 tournament begins on May 3rd, semifinals take place on May 4th, and the championship game will occur on May 6th. If the Buffs make it into the NCAA tournament, the first and second round are set to happen May 12-14.
