Buffs To Live Stream RMISA Ski Championships

February 21, 2022 | Skiing

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo.—The University of Colorado will produce the first multi-camera live stream of a non-NCAA Championship collegiate ski race this week as the Buffaloes host the RMISA Championships Feb. 23-26 in Steamboat Springs.  The meet triples as the 10th Annual Spencer James Nelson Memorial Invitational and the NCAA Western Regional.

CU's BuffVision department will take on the task, the beginning of a larger movement headed by CU coach Andy LeRoy to produce more live coverage of college ski racing.

The plan includes coverage of all eight races associated with the RMISA Championships, plus potential coverage of two other alpine events, an extra slalom qualifier, and a parallel slalom exhibition, a test event for possible inclusion in future NCAA Championships.

Coverage begins Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. with the first run of the women's GS race.  Thursday and Saturday's coverage will begin at 9 a.m. and Friday's at 10 a.m. and include slalom races Thursday, the Nordic classic races Friday, and the Freestyle races Saturday.  Saturday afternoon will have bonus coverage of the final few rounds of the parallel slalom exhibition.

The goal is not only to produce live coverage of CU's home meets in the future, but provide a cost-effective blueprint for other schools in the RMISA to follow suit and enhance the exposure of college ski racing for everybody.

Live streaming will be available in two places, via CU's official YouTube page and via the main athletics and skiing Facebook pages.

All times are subject to change due to weather or other factors.  Stay tuned to the CU Buffs Skiing social channels for full coverage details each day.
