Buffs Earn No. 3 Final Regional Ranking By ITA

SKILLMAN, N.J. – The University of Colorado women's tennis team finished the 2022 season tied for third in the Mountain Region, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Wednesday.

The Buffs (8-13, 1-9 Pac-12) tied with BYU for third in the team rankings, trailing Utah in the top spot and Denver in the second spot. Colorado went 3-2 this season in regional play, defeating Air Force, Wyoming and Denver but falling to CSU and Utah.

In addition to the team ranking, Colorado had Antonia Balzert and Caroline Pozo ranked in the top-10Â for individual players in the region. Balzert finished ranked seventh in the region and Pozo finished ranked 10th.

Balzert finished the season with a 7-9 individual record in duals and was 3-2 in the region. She had wins over the tied for third ranked player in Denver's Anna Riedmiller, the first win for a Buff against her in the past four years. All five of Balzert's opponents in the regional matches finished ranked in the top-20, including three opponents ranked higher than herself.

Pozo finished the season 5-12 in dual singles play with a 1-1 record against ranked regional opponents. Her ranked regional win came in the sweep against Denver where she defeated Taylor Melville in three sets.
