Chatfield High School graduate returns to Colorado
BOULDER—Colorado soccer continued to piece together its 2022 roster on Monday. Head coach Danny Sanchez announced the signing of transfer forward Civana (Sa-van-ah) Kuhlmann just a little more than a month before the Buffaloes' first match on August 18.
Kuhlmann, another Colorado native, returns to her home state after spending her first four collegiate seasons playing at Stanford. The Chatfield High School graduate last played for the Cardinal in the 2020 season, which was delayed to the spring of 2021.
Kuhlmann played in 62 games for Stanford winning NCAA championships in 2017 and 2019. She suffered a season-ending injury in an exhibition game that forced her to miss the 2019 season. Kuhlmann started 42 of those matches, totaling 20 goals and seven assists. Her best season came in her freshman year, totaling 22 points (9 G, 4 A). 11 of her goals have been credited as game-winners.
Colorado will be glad to have her in the Black and Gold. Kuhlmann notched four goals, two game-winners, and 17 shots in three games against the Buffs.
Kuhlmann was on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List for the 2020 season. She was a Pac-12 All-Freshman selection in 2017 and was Third Team All-Pac-12 in 2020. Â
Internationally, she has represented the U.S. at the U14, U15, U17, U18 and U20 levels, getting her first call up to the U17 team at the age of 14 in 2013. She became the youngest US player to score at the U17 level, getting her first goal on October 31, 2013. Kuhlmann is also the only American female to score a hat trick at the U17 World Cup.
Kuhlmann played her club soccer with Colorado Rush and was TopDrawerSoccer.com's No. 2 overall ranked player in the class of 2017.
