LOS ANGELES – Colorado point guard Jaylyn Sherrod added to her preseason accolades, landing on the e John R. Wooden Award® presented by Principal® Preseason Top 50 Watch List as announced on ESPN's SportsCenter and ESPN.com on Tuesday.

Chosen by a preseason poll of national college basketball experts, the list is comprised of 50 student-athletes who are the early front-runners for the most prestigious honors in college basketball, the Wooden Award All American Teamâ„¢ and Most Outstanding Player Award.

The players on the list are considered strong candidates for the 2024 John R. Wooden Award Women's Player of the Year presented by Principal. Players not chosen to the preseason list are still eligible for the Wooden Awardâ„¢ midseason list, late season list, and the National Ballot. The National Ballot consists of 15 top players who have proven to their universities that they meet or exceed the qualifications of the Wooden Award. Nearly 1,000 voters will rank in order 10 of those 15 players when voting opens prior to the NCAA Tournament and will allow voters to take into consideration performance during early round games. The Wooden Award All American Teamâ„¢ will be announced the week of the "Elite Eight" round of the NCAA Tournament. The winner of the 2024 John R. Wooden Award will be presented in Los Angeles in April.

Sherrod, also a preseason Lieberman Award Watch List nominee, Preseason Naismith Player of the Year candidate and a Preseason All-Pac selection, helped lead the then No. 20 Buffaloes over then No. 1 LSU to open the season in Las Vegas. She scored 19 points and handed out six assists in CU's 92-78 upset of the defending national champions.

She is averaging 13.7 points and 7.7 assists through three games this season. Sherrod has had five or more assists in all three games, including nine in the Buffs' win over Oklahoma State. She is four assists shy of 500 which would make her just the fourth Buff to have over 1,000 career points and 500 career assists.

The list represents eight conferences: the Pac-12 leads all conferences with 11 selections, followed by the ACC with 10 selections, the Big Ten and SEC with nine each, the Big 12 with six, the Big East with three and the Ivy League and MAC with one selection apiece.
