
Sherrod, Miller Named to Naismith Player of the Year Watch List

Colorado's duo are two of 50 to make the preseason list
BOULDER – Colorado graduate students Jaylyn Sherrod and Quay Miller were two of 50 players added to the 2024 Naismith Women's College Player of the Year, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced on Friday.

Named in honor of Dr. James Naismith, inventor of the game of basketball, the Naismith Trophy recognizes the top Men's and Women's College Basketball Players of the Year.

Sherrod, also a 2024 Lieberman Award Watch List candidate and Preseason All-Pac-12 selection, started all 33 games for the Buffs last season and was an All-Pac-12 and All-Defensive selection in 2023. Sherrod led the conference in both assists (165) and steals (78). She was one of five DI players who averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals last season. Sherrod scored in double figures in 21 games and had five or more assists 20 times. Sherrod starts this season ranked 29th in program history with 1,047 career points and is fourth in assists per game (4.5) and fifth in total assists (473).

Miller, a 2024 McClain Award Watch List candidate and Preseason All-Pac-12 selection, was an All-Conference selection last season and finished fifth in the Pac-12 in both rebounds per game (8.8) and total rebounds (164). Miller snagged a career-high 19 rebounds last season at Oregon State, tying the fourth most in a game in program history. Last season, she was a Lisa Leslie Midseason Top 10 watch candidate, totaling 444 points and surpassing 1,000 career points - a majority (774) coming as a Buff. Miller scored 10 points or more in 27 games last season and had 10 double-doubles, including a 12-point, 14-rebound performance against Iowa in the Sweet 16.

Sherrod, Miller and the rest of the 20th-ranked Buffs open the season against No. 1 LSU in Las Vegas on Monday (5:30 p.m. MT). The game is the third of four in the Hall of Fame Series at T-Mobile Arena.
